When Is The Dubai World Cup? Everything You Need To Know About The Racing Calendar

Founded in 1996 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who owns Darley Stud and Godolphin Racing, one of the world’s leading Thoroughbred breeding and racing operations.

The Dubai World Cup was first run in 1996 and won by Cigar. It is one of the richest races in the world and was to be worth $12 million (AED 44,074,800) in 2023.

The race is operated through the Emirates Racing Authority (ERA) whose Chairman is Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates. It offers nine races, consisting of eight Thoroughbred contests and one Purebred Arabian contest.

The Dubai World Cup has been held annually since 1996 and contested at Meydan Racecourse, home of the $30.5 million (AED 112,023,450) Dubai World Cup meeting and will host a total of 15 meetings during the 2023-24 season, including the new-look Dubai Racing Carnival, that runs from November 10th through March 8th, 2024. 

When Is The Dubai World Cup?

According to Visit Dubai, the race will take place at Meydan Racecourse on March 30th and is the pinnacle of the UAE racing season. Gates open at 1 PM.
